Macromedia Dreamweaver, GoLive HotDog, Allaire HomeSite, CyberStudio,

the more expensive in cost) or one of the dozens of free WYSIWYG (What You See
Is What You Get) programs available on the Internet to build your web site. Check
out the free software and shareware available at hotfiles.com or download.com .

9. What is Uptime?
Uptime is literally what it means - it is the amount of time a web site
is online throughout the entire month. The best uptime would be 100%, but because
things can break, many hosts offer 99.9% uptime guarantees.
10. Why did some web hosting company
offer un-metered bandwidth and you charge for over bandwidth?
BEWARE of a hosting companies that offer unlimited or un-metered bandwidth,
because normally their bandwidth get abused by certain people for distributing
files for download, porn sites or free downloads. And because of this, your site
which is hosted sharing with them will get the effect and your site performance
can be effected.

11. I am using too much bandwidth! Is there anyway
for me to make it less?
In most cases, yes. You should first try to optimize the graphics on your web site.
How you optimize graphics on your web is using either JPG or GIF format
and make the picture only as large as you need for your web page. You can also
look to see if your image looks just as good with fewer colors. In most cases
many JPEGs look just as good with a higher compression level.
Use a graphic
editor like adobe photoshop or Corel Draw, etc to compress your image.
You should also analyze the HTML code of your site.
Reason is, this makes sure your use relative paths, so
that images are not downloaded more than one time. Remove
any extra spacing and when linking to other pages, use
relative paths and not absolute links.
Best of all, optimizing your page like this makes
the user experience better as your site will load faster
for them!
Another method of checking your web site, is using
W3.org
validator, which is available for free use.

12. Can I host more than one web site within my
account?
Absolutely! Each plan includes a certain number
of add-on domains. Each add-on domain may be created in your
control panel and will allow you to have a different page
show up for a different domain name. This means you don't
need a separate hosting account for more than one web site.
Keep in mind that you will still only have one control panel
to manage the different sites.
WebHostingHINTS.com different plans allow for more add-on domains and also
more parked domains. You can find the details on the MAIN Plan
page.
13. What exactly is space and bandwidth/data transfer?
Diskspace is the size your website pages take
up space on the web computer server. Every single
letter on your website has to be stored somewhere on your
web host's server. Each letter is one byte, and a megabyte
is roughly one million bytes. HTML pages are usually very
small, but it is the extra images, scripts, and even databases
that can take up large amounts of disk space.
Bandwidth/Transfer
is the amount of data the server will allow your site to
send in a month. Transfer is usually measured in gigabytes
- billions of bytes. Once you go over your monthly limit,
a host may either shut your site down for the remainder
of the month or it can charge you 'overage.' This overcharge
is usually averages about $2.00 (note others may charge
as high as $5.00) per extra gigabyte of transfer, per month.

A Domain name is an Internet Address that will uniquely identify your website.
